Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor at New Hope will be in charge of recruiting, leading and caring for the many volunteers amongst the New Hope Church Niagara properties. They will look after all aspects of property maintenance from cleaning, stocking, repairing and hiring contractors. They will ensure that all property is welcoming, safe and inviting.

Responsibilities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages and oversees church maintenance, repairs, and upkeep.
  • Contacts and schedules contractors as required.
  • Provides basic maintenance services such as touch-up painting, lighting replacement, minor repairs, etc.
  • Oversees contracts for all maintenance on church property.
  • Ensures that prior to scheduled events rooms are clean and properly set up; and after such events ensures the rooms are clean and in order.
  • Oversees the construction and installation of interior and exterior church improvements.
  • Works with church staff to provide for any special needs associated with special events such as weddings, receptions, etc.
  • Provides support to ministry staff as needed (e.g. set up & take down).
  • Ensures that the facility is closed and secured after events/services.
  • Oversees the management and inventory of all church property by ensuring the proper storage and record-keeping.
  • Assists staff with budget planning and execution of facilities-related improvements, construction, maintenance, and repair expenses.
  • Oversees the property and maintenance during new construction projects to ensure ministry can continue unhindered.

Education, Experience and Skills

  • As a Support Staff member this position will seek to equip the ministries happening at all properties.
  • They will attend staff, operations and building team meetings while ensure a cohesive usage of the New Hope Church Niagara facilities.
  • Equip volunteers with the tools and vision needed to serve on the operations team.
  • Basic knowledge of building operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Strong organization and technology skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with volunteers and external contacts with tact, courtesy, sensitivity, and good will.
  • Initiating leader (self-starter) who can effectively delegate and manage responsibilities.
  • Physically able to perform construction, cleaning and other duties.
  • Knowledge of trades, tools and other equipment.
  • Prior experience in leading teams is an asset.

Position Details and Conditions

  • Position - 2 Year Contract Position 
  • Hours and Expectations - 20+ hour/week
  • Compensation – Competitive Market
  • Vacation - 2 Weeks Annually
  • Flexibility Clause – During your employment your direct supervisor may request that you undertake other duties and responsibilities which reasonably pertain to your job description.
  • Variation Clause – New Hope Church periodically examines and updates job descriptions to ensure they relate to the job performed. Your direct supervisor and you will review your job description. Any new responsibilities and priorities will be mutually agreed upon. New Hope Church reserves the right to make reasonable changes to this job description.
  • Probationary Period – 3 Months
